If you want your website to be found by search engines, you must develop your site in harmony with the way searchers use the Internet. With the rise of smart phones, a major change is taking place which impacts the way searchers and website owners connect.
What is the biggest change impacting Internet Search? How can you develop your website to best be found by search engines? Better still, how can the public best find your website?
Have You Heard of Google Auto Complete? Siri? Bing Suggest? I suggest you pay attention.
In case you haven’t heard about Google Auto Complete, also known as Google Suggest, you may want to pay attention. This is especially so if you operate a Law Firm or Real Estate Agency website. Searchers today are using cell phones more than computers. And smart phones allow a person to search by speaking to it. Naturally, rather than speak in one to three search words, we instead ask questions.
We hold up our phone and speak, but when we do, rather than tell it to look for “Google smart search” we ask, “What is Google smart search?” Although this is a minor difference, in many cases the results could be major. In the case of this particular string of search parameters, the resuls are the same. But if a searcher is asking a question related to law or buying property, Google Suggest is going to return results based on local search elements. But there is more.
Usually, we ask things like,
“What is the best restaurant?”
“Where is the best beauty salon?”
“Who is the best Lawyer?”
“How can I find a reputable mechnanic?”
When we ask these questions into our smart phone, something amazing happens. We get local results. So if someone with a local website has answered these questions on their website, they will get noticed quicker than those who have not.
When a searcher asks a question, the results are likely to be generic unless someone has directly answered the question asked. Then, the website with the direct answer to the exact question will be featured first in the results, offset by a nice text box. It goes without saying that most searchers will choose this result over the remaining nine results on the page. Don’t you want that website to be yours?
Summed up, What is the Best Way for a Website to be Noticed by Searchers Today?
Answer a question. But to give an answer, a question must first be asked. So ask a question and tell your readers the answer. For instance, we could ask here,
“Who provides the best advice for website problems in Lubbock?”
The answer is Oakes Writing Website Services of Lubbock.
One of the biggest things we come across at Oakes Writing when dealing with Law Firm websites is a reluctance to ask and answer questions. Attorney’s generally want to provide bland, direct statements of fact, much as they would in a courtroom.
But the public is not a courtroom. The public wants as much to learn as it does to be entertained. Part of entertaining involves careful use of speech. Rather than cutting unnecessary words and questions, simply telling the facts, try telling stories and answering questions. Be provocative and engaging. Let your natural personality shine through the blogs you write.
Most important, ask those questions. If no one else has done so, at minimum, your blog will rise to the top of the results. Do you want your website to rank first in search engine results?
Ahh, now that is the question…
